This is the first time in history that financially disadvantaged Indian nurses get the chance for job placements in Germany. Living and earning money in Germany is the dream of most Indians but only few persons can normally realize their dream. Only financially well-situated persons or well-connected persons get a chance to work and live in Germany. The expense is high.

A German language course (A1-B2), document translation, application for recognition-qualification test (“Gleichwertigkeitsprüfung”), getting the German nursing accreditation as well as the visa process and getting a placement in a hospital or old age home, flight charges and necessary accommodation arrangements in Germany will cost more than three lakhs’ Rupees and additionally, the agency fees go from 2.5 Lakhs up to 15 Lakhs.

Abhayam, a charitable organisation, together with the Indo German Centre for health care sustainability (IGCHS) and Mr. Thomas Vallomtharayil and his family, that lives in Germany, could make it possible to get nursing placements and make a living in Germany for the financially underprivileged community in India without spending any money or get into dept. The Visa will be permanent, and the family can follow within 6 to 9 months.

After 2 years of continuous engagement, in which we had meetings with the German and Indian federal ministries as well as with different state ministries of both countries, now finally the goal of a pilot project has been sanctioned from the German side. A German Government department is the project partner.

Because of the Corona pandemic only 50 nurses will be selected in the first stage to avoid further nursing shortages in India. After the observation of the first group, an increased group size may follow.

We give special preference to orphans, widows, single women over 30 years old and single mothers. Depending on the financial status of the individual applicant, Abhayam can decide whether the candidate may get full care or partly support.

Abhayam Society will manage these expenses through sponsorships and donations arranged by IGCHS, employers and donators. Extremely poor persons (widows, single mothers) may get the living expenses or hostel fees during the language course.

According to the existing German law as well as the policy of the Ministry of external affairs of India, the official recruitment by the German employers will be conducted only from the end of July. German courses and document verification, eligibility check etc. will start from 15th of June 2021 until 15th of July 2021.

The candidates who are already attending language courses or passed B1 and B2 can apply for the Abhayam support now! The expected duration until joining a job is three to four months.

Those who didn’t participate in a language course yet can join the German Care Academy (GCA). The courses will start shortly. When and where the courses will begin, will be published on our website: www.germancareacademy.eu. The first course will start in Thiruvalla this month.

The application should be complete, including all documents. Incomplete applications will be rejected and can be accepted only by next chance.
